Buttons that lean in and letters that roll
Buttons that lean towards you, with letters that roll on hover.
Hover, or Tab to them. A screen reader hears “Start a project”, not fifteen letters. Under reduced motion they sit still and simply change colour.
Remake it
Build one interactive web page: Each letter rolls on hover, staggered; the button leans towards the pointer and springs back. Still read as one word by assistive tech. Set it on an invented business called Sampleton, with its own drawn or generated pictures and no one else's files. It suits: One or two primary actions on a design-led site. Do not let it fail the way this kind of piece usually does: Letters left readable to screen readers, and motion that ignores reduced motion. The lean is our addition; the roll was measured. It must work with the keyboard, on a phone, with reduced motion respected and no text under 12px. Tell me which libraries you chose and why.
Notes: when it suits, when it does not, how it fails
- When it suits
- One or two primary actions on a design-led site.
- When it does not
- Forms, dense navigation, anything clicked many times a day.
- How it fails
- Letters left readable to screen readers, and motion that ignores reduced motion. The lean is our addition; the roll was measured.
Measured on: landonorris.com · A1. Built from scratch for an invented business; nothing here comes from the site studied.
