The seasons express

A year beyond the window.

Sampleton Sleeper Company

A window seat for every season.

Set the pace

Choose a season and a light, then keep your window-seat picture.

Remake it

Build 'The seasons express' for an invented Sampleton Sleeper Company. Give the visitor a carriage window with original drawn curtains, brass trim, a cup and a passing landscape. Mountains move slowly, hills and farms faster, and the nearest trees and fence fastest. Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter buttons change the landscape and weather; Night lights changes the sky and house windows. Add Train speed inside a pace disclosure, Play, Pause, Reset and Keep the view as PNG. This is an invented landscape, not an advertised real route. Preserve the whole carriage composition using contain framing at popup and full page sizes, with controls allowed to scroll on narrow screens. Use native labelled controls and text of at least 12px. Start still for reduced motion. Keep this scene silent.
  1. Draw the carriage as a stable foreground and clip the landscape to the window opening. Give each moving layer its own distance multiplier.
  2. Store a chosen season and interpolate its sky, hill, field and foliage colours. Draw the appropriate petals, leaves or snow and make night a separate lighting choice.
  3. Advance one journey distance from simulation time and Train speed, so setting speed to zero stops travel without changing the season.
  4. Keep season and light controls immediately available, fold the pace control below, and export the current window view as a PNG.
  5. Contain the complete drawing on resize. Pause all autonomous movement when requested, offscreen or under reduced motion, while season and light choices still redraw.
Notes: when it suits, when it does not, how it fails
When it suits
Travel, seasonal products or an illustrated brand world.
When it does not
A factual route planner or a photorealistic simulation.
How it fails
Flat parallax or excessive movement; layer speeds and pause are exposed.

Original procedural artwork for Sampleton Sleeper Company, an invented business. Drawn live with visitor-controlled state and no external media.
