Beyond the frame
A poster refuses its edges.
Sampleton Print Room
Your headline has outgrown its border.

Remake it
Build 'Beyond the frame' for an invented Sampleton Print Room. Draw an original poster with the visitor's short headline, then split that same print into a seven column by nine row grid. Project the 63 fragments out beyond a drawn frame with individual translation, turn and depth, preserving the poster texture on every fragment. Add Poster headline, a Rupture slider, Break out and Reassemble, with Run the loop folded below. Stage taps may trigger the same burst as the native button. Offer Play, Pause, Reset and Keep the print as PNG. Keep it silent and respect reduced motion with a still initial poster and manual rupture editing. Fit the entire intended composition inside the available canvas rather than using popup cropping, keep text at least 12px and let controls scroll on narrow screens.
- Render the original editable poster to an offscreen canvas. Divide it into 63 source rectangles and retain each fragment's source coordinates and deterministic transform seed.
- Derive every fragment's outward position, rotation and scale from one rupture value. Use that same value for the slider and automatic burst so manual reassembly is reversible.
- Repaint the source poster when its headline changes. Ensure the fragments use the updated texture instead of a cached earlier word.
- Provide native buttons for burst and reassembly as well as the stage tap, contain the complete composition on resize and save the selected print arrangement as PNG.
- Start still for reduced motion, freeze the burst on Pause, and remove the stage tap listener and animation scheduling when the plate is destroyed.
Notes: when it suits, when it does not, how it fails
- When it suits
- Campaigns, editorial posters and a deliberate reveal.
- When it does not
- Critical body text that must remain readable throughout.
- How it fails
- Unrelated debris; fragments are sampled from the original procedural poster.
Original procedural artwork for Sampleton Print Room, an invented business. Drawn live with visitor-controlled state and no external media.
